Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara 古都奈良の文化財
Inscribed 1998CulturalNara
Nara was Japan's capital from 710 to 784, when Buddhism and Chinese-style government transformed the country. Five great temples, the Kasuga shrine with its primeval forest, and the remains of the Heijo Palace preserve the art and architecture of that formative age.
